ABOUT SCYWL

Where South Carolina’s Future Champions Are Built

At SCYWL, we’re here for one reason - to give South Carolina youth wrestlers a platform to rise, compete, and grow into elite athletes and leaders. We’re more than just tournaments. We are the heartbeat of youth wrestling in the Palmetto State. Every event we host is rooted right here in South Carolina, giving our kids a true home advantage.

Our mission is to provide a structured, high-energy, and professionally run environment where young athletes - beginners to advanced - can develop their skills, test their grit, and chase greatness. SCYWL is a league for the kids, built by passionate coaches, dedicated parents, and a statewide community that believes in the power of wrestling to change lives. We promote discipline, respect, hard work, and heart - values that extend far beyond the mat.

Important Participation Requirement

In order to compete in our prestigious Novice State Championships or SCYWL State Tournament, wrestlers must be residents of South Carolina. This league was built to serve our kids, in our communities, and our championships are reserved for those who call this state home. With every tournament, every handshake, and every hard-fought match, we’re not just growing wrestlers - we’re building future warriors, leaders, and a South Carolina wrestling legacy that can’t be ignored.

Novice Eligibility: A Novice wrestler is defined as someone who has competed for less than two years. This is not a calendar year this is a physical years.

If your wrestler wrestled a match anytime in 2023 they are no longer eligible for the Novice Division. It does not matter if they wrestled only 1 match in November of 2023 or if they wrestled 20 matches. If they competed at all they are not eligible. If they place in an open state tournament they are no longer eligible for the Novice Division.
